Wow! What an accomplishment! It’s kind of amazing to think about what other people are getting done (17 miles?!) while we’re just about to crawl out of bed. 🙂 I’m running my first marathon in January and will definitely be employing the “tell everyone I know I’m running x miles” plan as my long runs get longer. Accountability and motivation are so important. Well done!

Great run, Ashley! I loved following your running tweets yesterday. It was so brave of you to get out there in the dark. You deserve to have a long-lasting grin. It’s one of my favorite things about long runs. This post provided just the inspiration I needed to get out there and tackle 20 miles in a few minutes.

Wow, first, 17 miles before work, impressive. Second, how does one take pictures during a run. And third where are the water fountains (other than 72/90th st West)? That’s my one gripe with running along the hudson, well done.

    • Ashley September 11, 2010 / 4:57 pm

I carry my Blackberry, camera, and keys in my Camelbak and will grab it out to use when I want. In regards to water fountains, I know for a fact there are some near the bike rental place, near the old running shack (where the construction is).

Way to go, girl! I was sort of wondering where the heck you would get in 17 miles in Manhattan. Looping around seems like a great idea!

    • Ashley September 11, 2010 / 4:52 pm

Thanks! It was great running into you today. What are you up to tonight/this afternoon? 🙂

CONGRATS on 17 miles!! Such an accomplishment!! Looks like you run at the same place I do- love the Hudson River. This was such great motivation for my own run this morning!!

    • Ashley September 13, 2010 / 8:22 am

I absolutely love the Hudson especially in the cool Fall weather. During the summer the lack of shade can be a pain but it was lovely Friday morning!

  19. Tina September 13, 2010 / 8:43 pm

You rule, lady! I’m very inspired by this post! 🙂

    • Ashley September 13, 2010 / 9:21 pm

Thanks Tina!! It was definitely a PDR for me and I’m actually excited instead of scared for the marathon now! This weekends 18 miler will be another huge step since it includes HILLS! 🙂
